Dreaming of Hot Molasses


I love molasses deep rich flavor. Not only is it tasty, it is one of the healthy sweeteners.

Molasses provides iron, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus, but a bit more so in the dark (blackstrap) unsulphered kind.

Used commonly in baked beans, ginger breads, Indian pudding, licorice, and soy sauce whether made commercially or at home.

At my home, molasses finds its way into cookies, breads, drinks, sauces, syrups, ice cream toppings and now in my cocoa.

Molasses is a beauty plumper. Its sulfurous content and minerals help nourish the skin. I would not use it every day as part of your routine, because it is still a sugary food. Find the majority of your minerals elsewhere.

So, no need to feel guilty, just don’t start drinking it out of the bottle.

Gather a mug, a cup or more of homemade almond or oat milk, Heat it up until as hot as you like. Stir in 1 tablespoons molasses (preferably organic), 1-1/2 tablespoons organic cocoa, and a dash of cinnamon, if you like.
